Want to talk about sex, politics, spirituality? So do I. I grew up in a religious home in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Our country was reeling from assassinations and the devastation of the Viet Nam War. Looking for something beautiful, I got a degree in music, married the love of my life and had children. Looking for God, I then went to seminary. Looking for something that might transform the world, I became a local church pastor. Now, I’m always looking for people who want to talk about important things. I cherish conversations with emerging leaders, people who are antsy to try an idea they believe would change the world for the better. I would love to hear from you.

The thing I love most about my position is the interaction with our church members and those from the community that drop by the church office now and then. I have completed my professional “circle” because I have returned to the employment that I began with when our family moved from New Jersey to Burlington, Vermont. I was the church secretary at FUMC Burlington beginning in 1982 for thirteen years. While serving in this position, I was also very involved with the ministry of the church. I assisted as a leader of both the Junior High and Senior High youth groups, helped with Sunday School and my husband and I served as family coordinator. This church position was very rewarding. We planned many church family gatherings such as camping, dinners, sugar on snow outings and bus trips to many cities in the U.S. and Canada. One of our last trips was to England and Scotland! This was a wonderful ministry that included many families and singles that developed a close knit sense of community.

I worked with several former pastors during my tenure. In 1995, I was drawn to accept a position at the Ronald McDonald House Charities, two buildings away and worked my way up to the executive director position which I held until June 2014. I was aware that the position at FUMC would again become available in the summer of 2015! I applied for the job and luckily the Staff Parish Committee hired me to begin in August! I am elated to serve as Administrative Assistant for my home Church and work with such a dedicated staff. I am familiar with many in the congregation and am introducing myself to new faces I see. Please don’t hesitate to come to the office or contact me if I can be of service in anyway.

Eclexcellent. Yes, I just made that word up. And it is my vision for music. It should be eclectic. When you come to worship you never know if you are going to hear the choir singing Bach, an a cappella group doing hymn re-mixes, or a garage band playing something you may heave heard on the radio on your way over. From hand bells to jazz combos, I am interested in using music to enhance and compliment the worship experience. I myself am a classically trained opera singer who used to be the lead singer in a rock band, so I am open to music in all of its many forms. And of course it must be excellent. My goal is to have you leave the worship service feeling like the music was something you were glad not to have missed that week. If you have any musical experience, or just want to shake a tambourine, get in touch with me. I’d love to work with you in praising God through song.
